Owners Terry & Tami Abraham have combined their years of salon and business experience to create I Design Salon & Blowdry Bar. Created with the philosophy that the most important part of a client’s visit to a salon is the full-service experience and outstanding customer service. They have created that atmosphere in a space that is upbeat, glamourous, and full of talented stylists that support this culture and experience.
Terry Abraham is a third-generation stylist mentored by his father Charles, uncle Dean, and grandparent’s Braham & Mabeline. Terry’s family have been innovators in the hair industry for over 80 years, lecturing throughout the world and bringing human hair wigs to the United States in the 60’s. Terry began his career as a hairstylist in his family’s hair salon in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His career later brought him to the Naperville area in 1990 when Tami accepted a corporate management promotion with Bristol Myers. Terry was quickly connected with Zano Salons and soon joined the company. In his 10 year career, he was instrumental in the growth of Zano Salons as the company vice president, working closely with salon innovators Denise & Ron Provenzano. Passionate about the salon industry, Terry perused his salon vision with the opening of I Design Salon in 2000.

I joined the styling team at I Design in 2010 bringing 15 plus years of style and experience to I Design Salon. I began my hairdressing career styling the likes of Chicago’s Gold Coast; quickly becoming one of Oak Street’s most sought after stylists. I bring my own unique edge, specializing in the latest haircuts and styles for men and women. I look forward to creating your personalized look!
It all started when I was just 5, I asked my mom if I could do my OWN hair from now on. I had lots of ideas! My lifelong passion for hair influenced me to choose this as my career. I received my formal education at Mario Tricoci University and earned my cosmetology license in 2007. Upon completion, I joined a top Chicago salon where I received intense training in haircutting, blow drying, and formal styling. I am fortunate to have joined the I Design Salon Team in 2015 where I can continue to apply my skills and grow as a successful hairstylist. When I’m not at the salon, I enjoy spending time with my two beautiful daughters, a son and my family.
As an artist, I am most inspired by Nature – the colors and textures, the order within the chaos, the transformations and rebirths. Looking back, it is clear why I was immediately hooked when I first discovered the creative hair industry. For me, “doing hair” is so much more. It is the perfect intersection of Art and Science, coupled with the extreme gratification of making others feel rejuvenated, happy and loved. Since joining the team at IDesign in 2008, I have been honored to gain the trust and reputation to do so! I provide all salon services; and specialize in balayage, color corrections, and extensions. Additionally, I help coordinate salon educational opportunities, while providing individual education for our apprentices as they move from recent cosmetology graduates into their career with us. I believe sharing knowledge destroys fear and that we can all empower each other in this way. I truly love everything about what I do, and I know it shows. I look forward to forming a lasting bond with you AND your hair!
I have been part of the I Design Salon Team for 9 years. I truly love what I do and where I work! Every day I get to help people look their best. I love the wide range of services I can provide-from hair cutting, to color, to formal styling for an evening out or a blow dry that lasts for several days. One of my favorite services is the Keratin Smoothing Treatment. It is an amazing treatment that reduces frizz and leaves hair silky and shiny. It’s so great for our humid weather! I’ve received advanced training from Schwarzkopf, Moroccan Oil and traveled to New York City for training from Bumble and bumble. I am certified in Great Lengths hair extensions and love the results and transformations extensions can make! I believe in continued education to keep myself on the leading edge of hairdressing and providing clients with the most current and suitable look for them and their lifestyle.
I knew at a fairly early age that my career would be in hairstyling. I took advantage of a program through my high school and College of DuPage that allowed me to attend cosmetology school as an elective high school credit. I wanted to get a real jump start to my career! I worked as a shampoo assistant at a salon throughout cosmetology school while also attending advanced education. I joined the I Design family in early 2010. I furthered my education by working hands on with the rest of the I Design Team and attending classes by Schwarzkopf, Bumble and bumble, Keratin Complex, and Moroccan Oil. I am certified in Great lengths Hair Extension’s. I also love to stay current on new trends and techniques by following acclaimed celebrity stylists and colorists via various social media platforms. I specialize in hair coloring and am constantly inspired to better my craft. I love being able to create transformations not only on my client’s appearance, but also how it transforms their confidence. In my free time, I love reading, going to concerts, spending time with my family, dogs, and of course, shopping!
I have been a hairstylist long enough to see many trends go full circle. I started my career with British Educators teaching women to give up their rollers for a blow dryer! It was an exciting time for women of all ages to feel liberated. My passion is working with my longtime clients to create individual styles to meet their needs. I place high value on listing to my clients and building relationships with them. I am trained with cutting techniques of Vidal Sassoon, Tony and Guy and more. My creative side at home is through gardening and cooking.
Hair is literally my life! I grew up in my own personal salon; meaning my grandma, aunt, and cousins’ houses. Every time my mom would go to visit my family, I would watch them do hair for hours in their kitchens, even though my mom would ask me to go play with my younger cousins. After high school, it was an obvious choice to go to beauty school. I attended Pivot Point Academy in Bloomingdale and graduated top of my class. After graduation, I studied abroad in Paris learning haircutting techniques. I then joined one of the top salons in Chicago. I went through almost 3 years of extensive apprenticeship training. I joined I Design Salon in 2016. I love working here and being part of a fantastic team of stylists! I think it is very important to stay up to date with new trends. Therefore, I continue to attend local classes because you can never have too much knowledge. Making women not only look, but feel beautiful is my passion in life!
When I graduated high school, the decision for my future was pretty simple. I knew from a young age that I was going to be a hairstylist. Hair has always been something that I enjoy and love, it doesn’t even feel like “work” to me. I attended the Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School in Bloomington-Normal and started working at I Design the day after I graduated. What I love about doing hair is the transformation the clients see and the way the feel after they leave! I Design is my home away from home and I am beyond grateful and fortunate to work beside such talented people! Working at I Design and being part of this amazing team reminds me that the choice I made for my future, was the right one.
